10.24.11 Mirrors and Energy

We had a fun day today with flat, convex, and concave reflective surfaces, as well as different types of energy.

Owen learned about the reflective surfaces and Brennan learned about types of energy.

The experiments with both were fun. We did several, below are samples.

Of course the experiments that O does are presented with information in a simple, but memorable way.
First he made his own mirror:



Then he experimented with mirrors and symmetry:



He finished the day making a kaleidoscope. That was really fun. He was amazed that it worked.




Brennan worked on a merry go round that worked by elastic energy:




Next week I will try to add some photos of Owens drawings. Since he does not write easily I have him interpret what we learn through colour on paper.
